Cannon Deck Plate

There’s not much choice for a backplate mounting a cannon downrigger into the top of the gunwale.Be aware1) the threads are poorly cut. The bolts will seize and strip if you do not buy a 1/4-20 tap and die kit to recut the threads in this thing2) the plate is aluminum (painted ) and your bolts are stainless steel : they will fuse making this impossible to remove without damaging your boat. You MUST apply anti-seize , or tef-gel or very low strength threadlocker or you will have a fused obje…ct within a few months - you will regret not doing this rightNext time I will probably remove these screws every year to prevent fusing on no -similar metals. Lesson learned!3) uses truss-head screws that I’ve only seen at McMaster Çarr all screws are 1/4-20 of two different lengths four to bolt through the gunwale and four to bolt through the down-rigger base. It requires 4 flat head screws (I used 1/4-20 2.5” flathead) and four trusshead to go through the swivel base (1/4-20 1.5”).If you don’t tap and recut cleaner threads and and not very gently hand tighten they will be unremovable. You will need extra bolts when you destroy them in this case. You also need locknuts, washers, and nuts.5) the black paint will flake off within a year or twoBest of luck

I ordered this because it was what I needed. Too bad the description is completely wrong. The dimensions on the product say 9x7x2 but what I received was 6x5x1/2. Not a happy customer right now

Cannon mag 10 ST power downriggers with quick release and swivel mounted on these. Wider foot print mounted to the boat. gives a 1 screwdriver unmount of everything else for going out water skiing. Love these bases.

Welded it to a pontoon seat pedestal - now have a really good downrigger mount.

Seems solid and looks good. My downrigger mount fit well. Was a pain to find stainless mounting hardware. You need #14 flathead screws to mount. They are hard to find. Cannon, it would be great if you upped the price a few bucks and provided this. Other than that, i like this product and would buy again. The product is 5 star, gave it 4 due to pain in finding mounting hardware. The tracks come with it. Why don't these??

I have Cannon downriggers with pedestal mounts. These do not fit. You need “Rod Holder Deck Mount” for that, not these. Cannon is very unclear about that and I got stuck with 2 of these cuz I am beyond my return window. $70 in the garbage because I am beyond the return window and Cannon doesnt mention it anywhere

Buen accesorio para reforzar el casco de tu bote. Sin él se podría arrancar el downrigger en un momento de desgaste del gasto o mucha presión.

I really wish this included hardware (bolts and screws). I'd happily pay a few bucks more to not have to make a trip to the hardware store to find screws to mount the downrigger bases.
