I had an earlier version that I had purchased in 2008. It still worked okay in my application which was to power my aquarium pump during a power outage with a 12 volt DC automotive storage battery.Note: you have to remember to hook red to the (+) positive terminal and black to the (-) negative terminal of the 12 volt (DC) storage battery. They’ll be a small spark when you touch the terminals as the capacitors are energized. The newer (2022) version of the inverter has GFCI features in the plug…s in now. The new 2022 Unit looks identical to my 2008 version, same case, it’s sturdily built. This review based on my 2008 version, which looks identical to the newer 2022 Version except for the new GFCI feature.I was half awake when I put the (-) to the (+) terminal of the storage battery and (-) to the (+). It blew all 4 each (30 amp) automotive type fuses in my old 2008 Inverter. The manufacturer wants you to send the unit back for refurbishment at the factory but I decided that sending the unit back to the factory was not worth the cost of shipping plus handling and repair costs. So I disassembled the inverter and tried to remove the 4 (ea) 30 amp fuses from the circuit board. No soap, they’re soldered into the board. As a work around, I got some spade connectors and insulated auto fuse connectors with 30 amp fuses and installed them onto the spade type connectors left on the burned out fuses after removing the melted fuse remnants. Worked great in my application. But the auto fuse cases are bulky. You’ll have to stuff in the fuse case and extra wiring. This is a result of not being able to remove the circuit board from its metal case of the inverter. Looked like the circuit board should just slide out and you could just solder in the new fuses easily. Nope. I decided that It was not worth my time to figure out why the circuit board would not slide out it the metal case slot.Caution: You would have to make sure the capacitors are discharged before working on this inverter!I bought the 2022 unit in case my shade tree electrician fix didn’t work. It did. New 2022 unit work great also.
Not sure what else to say. Bought this for a road trip in 2007. Installed in the trunk of my 1991 BMW 325ix. Worked great ever since. Running multiple laptops, full sized external hard drives, air compressors, drills, 110v lights, volcano vaporizer....Love this thing. Recently took it out of the car and brought a couple charged car batteries on a camping trip. Was charging phones, flashlights, vapes and running air pumps for mattresses...Worked like a champ.
works great! and good size
Worked great for about 2 months then fried out and doesn't work any more. Is there any possibility of getting another one?
lower power
Not so much the product as the seller is the problem. I've had a few inverters for marine, RV and auto applications. Xantrex is a great brand for inverters. But this one didn't work right and came missing parts. The seller only refunded abut 70% of the purchase price.
The first unit I purchased far and away exceeded my expectations, it then failed after a year or two. So then i attempted to replace it with faulty units from the manufacturer. New out of the box and they were completely defective. Customer service was virtually no help at all either. So yeah they MADE a quality product at one time. Not anymore.
Awesome inverter great price xantrex hard to beat this things a beast
Works great for running my solar power shelter
Inverter is Excellent quality it's very well made will definitely be buying more of this brand it was a little bigger than expected but that is a good thing to me. Seller shipped quick and had very good protective packaging.
